Maha Kumbh Mela is the largest spiritual gathering in the world, held every 12 years at one of the four sacred rivers in India: the Ganges, Yamuna, Saraswati, or Godavari. In 2025, it will be celebrated in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, where millions of pilgrims and visitors come together to bathe in the sacred Sangam (confluence of rivers) for spiritual purification.

The Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj will take place from January 14, 2025, to March 12, 2025, with major bathing dates during this period.

The major bathing (Shahi Snan) dates for 2025 are:

  • Makar Sankranti: January 14, 2025
  • Paush Purnima: January 25, 2025
  • Mauni Amavasya: February 9, 2025
  • Basant Panchami: February 14, 2025
  • Maghi Purnima: February 23, 2025
  • Mahashivratri: March 12, 2025
  • By Air: The nearest airport is Bamrauli Airport (Prayagraj), or you can fly to Varanasi or Lucknow and take a road journey.
  • By Train: Prayagraj Junction is well-connected to major cities in India. Special trains will run during the event.
  • By Road: Prayagraj is accessible via national highways and has frequent bus services.

  • There are a variety of accommodations available, including:

    • Luxury tents and campsites like Hotel Kumar Continental, Jhusi, offering premium services and proximity to the river.
    • Budget hotels, guesthouses, and dharamshalas.
    • Temporary camps set up by the government.
